At least 49 people has lost their lives after mass shootings by gunmen believed to be white supremacists who live streamed their terrible and barbaric attacks on two separate mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday.
One of the gunmen was described as wearing a military-style jacket and carrying an automatic weapon.
One of the shooters identified as Brenton Tarrant, In Tarrant’s live-stream, he can be seen parking his vehicle outside the Hagley Park mosque, before taking two guns and walking a short distance to the entrance of the building.
He then opened fire. Over the course of five minutes, he repeatedly shoots worshippers, leaving well over a dozen bodies in one room alone.
He returned to the car during that period to change guns, before going back to the mosque to shoot anyone showing signs of life.
“It is clear that this can now only be described as a terrorist attack,” Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said at a press conference hours after the killings.
New Zealand’s police commissioner, Mike Bush said on Friday that one man will be charged with murder for the killings.
Police also arrested two other men and one woman. They were still working to determine what connection they had to the terrible attack.
Mosques in Deans Avenue and Linwood Avenue were targeted in the attack, but police urged all mosques across New Zealand to shut their doors in the wake of the incident.
police had defused a number of improvised explosive devices found on vehicles after the shootings. The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison this morning confirmed that one of the attackers was an Australian citizen. One Australian politician, Fraser Anning, provoked outrage by saying that immigration was to blame for the atrocity.
